The Healing Power of Equus
The Equine Gestalt Coaching Method®
The EGCMethod® is different than any other type of equine coaching you may have experienced or seen. With EGCM the horse is an active partner in the coaching and healing process. Using their combined wisdom and intuition, the EGCM coach and their equine partner will guide you through your experience. Working together, they will help you isolate the unfinished business that is causing you pain or blocking your path to success and happiness Then, through experiential interaction they will assist you in clearing the energy that has been holding you back or keeping you from your best self.
No horse experience is necessary to participate in an EGCM coaching session and you will not ride the horse – although, if you ride, you may find that the EGCM experience deepens the connection with your horses.
EGCM sessions can take many forms and are as unique as each individual who experiences the process. Some people prefer to have their EGCM session in private – just them, the horse and the EGCM coach. Others experience EGCM in a group setting such as a retreat or workshop. Many people find the group setting empowering and enlightening. In either setting, the EGCM coach will make sure you are treated with love and respect and that the coaching is provided in a safe and nurturing environment.
Individuals from all walks of life and all ages can benefit from EGCM coaching. Some common reasons people seek the help of an EGM coach include (but are not limited to):

The Equine Gestalt Coaching Method® was developed by Melisa Pearce, a core founder since 1989, of the horse-human healing movement. The experiential nature of the method involves the horse as an active partner with the coach in the client’s exploratory process. The integrative approach of the equine’s interaction combined with positive coaching, somatic awareness, guidance and Gestalt methodology, assist the client in examining their life and choices made with a focus on designing a positive future.
Melisa Pearce is a lifelong horsewoman and an accomplished psychotherapist. She is also a EGCM® practitioner and an amazing intuitive spirit. She and her certification program graduates are known throughout the industry for their integrity and expertise.
Why Horses?
Horses are deeply connected to our humanity – perhaps more so than any other being with which we share our plate. Ages ago, when we humans were still wild in our nature, horses formed a partnership with us that forever changed our destiny. Over the millennia, they have guided us out of the wilderness and into the light. They have carried our burdens, worked alongside us, toiled for us, fought beside us in war and sacrificed themselves to nourish our prosperity and our bodies. They have willingly borne our hope on their strong backs, moving us forward into the future we now share. We are intrinsically intertwined with the horse. Even though many of us no longer share a day-to-day bond with an equine spirit, we can not deny John Trotwood Moore’s assessment that “Wherever man has left his footprints in the long ascent from barbarism to civilization, we find the hoofprint of a horse beside it.”
Through thousands of years of partnership, horses have come to understand us like no other being. The eyes of a horse can see to places deep within us – and their hearts can reach places we ourselves do not know how to find. With their touch their mere presence – they can heal us, making whole that which was fragmented; restoring that which was lost. It is true, the horse may no longer till our fields or serve as transportation, but they still have a great deal to give. They now offer us what we need the most – healing, insight, and true connection to spirit. Perhaps that was their plan all along … and now they have EGCM® coaches to help them.
The Benefits of EGCM
EGCM is based on Gestalt (which means wholeness) principles. The process is experiential in nature and deeply tied to somatics (body response). This holistic approach allows for complete release of energy and emotional blocks or pain. Almost all EGCM clients experience permanent resolutions to the issues worked on during their session and find that the process elicits lasting change in their lives.
Coming in 2019!
Blessed are those who experience the whispers from a horse’s heart.
