The Fire That Blocked Our Way

So another bump on our road out:

A fire just sprang up on Mountain Home, near Woods Landing. There have been evacuations and roads have been closed, including the route we had mapped out, so we're currently working on an alternate route. We did actually leave Monday morning and rode 5 miles up to a plateau where we first spotted the fire. We talked to a land owner and she called the Sheriff who told her we should turn back.

Up to that point, the horses were doing fantastic. We had a few bobbles here and there: when Sally saw cows for the first time, or when we were passed by cars, then when we used the hobbles on Balthazar, etc. but, all-in-all, they did fantastic!!

So instead we've been working with the horses, view a few of the video from our prep:

A bright side to our predicament is our gracious hosts, Dick and Joyce Williams, who have so Incredibly accommodating and helpful. Not only are they experienced horse people, but they are incredibly knowledgeable about the area and are helping us a ton with trying to find an alternate route around the fire.

They're pictured below with their four legged's, Rugger and Cowgirl.
